Sibling Rivalry, aka Joe and Fl!p Breskin, will celebrate Joe’s 72nd birthday with a concert to benefit the Olympic Environmental Council. OEC is the oldest 501(c)3 environmental protection organization on the North Olympic Peninsula.

The musicians (listed in alphabetical order) will include: Fl!p Breskin, Daniel Macke, David Michael, Rick Ravenscroft, Robert Force, Sue Logg, and Zeke Hoskin.

Joe’s intention for the evening is to introduce us to his local and not so local musical community, and to introduce each of them to us, by showing everyone how we play together….and to introduce various combinations of “us” to the folks in the room.

Here’s what Joe had to say—

“Fl!p Breskin is an important part of the Northwest’s musical community, founder of Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, and she almost never plays in Port Townsend, so this is a rare opportunity to experience an evening of music that will include some intimate duets, songs that people who are inclined to sing can sing, and songs worth listening to, that tell interesting stories that you have probably never heard before. Joe Breskin is a unique guitar player, mostly an accompanist, whose technique has been slowly and steadily evolving for about 60 years. Joe’s definition of heaven is simple: time on a beach with people who play just enough better than he does to make it dangerously exciting.

“Others expected to play include Zeke Hoskin, a prolific songwriter who crafts ‘topical songs’ in the spirit of Tom Lerher, local world music maestro David Micheal who will play both harp and guitar, Jack Reid who is Joe’s long time music partner, Dulcimer legend and impressario Robert Force (who literally got Flip into the music business 40 years ago and introduced Jack Reid to Joe), and Daniel Macke, a brilliant guitarist who shares Flip’s birthday. Joe says he’ll try to add harmony lines and counterpoint to Daniel’s memorable and intricate music. And you will get to hear from Woodinville singer/songwriter Rick Ravenscroft and local singer/songwriter Sue Logg, each of whom has written beautiful songs.”

The 50 electronic tickets available for purchase at Brownpaper Tickets have SOLD OUT. There are still a few available directly from Joe Breskin. There will also be some ticket giveaways on KPTZ next week and some comps reserved for event sponsors, etc. The number of online tickets have been set fairly low because the goal is to create a wonderful concert experience, not an over-crowded house.
